Ingredients
Scale
- ½ cup elbow macaroni (uncooked)
- ¾ cup water
- Pinch of salt
- ¼ cup shredded cheddar cheese (or mix of cheeses)
- 2 tablespoons milk or cream
- ½ tablespoon butter (optional)
Instructions
- Add elbow pasta, water, and a pinch of salt to a 12 oz microwave-safe mug.
- Microwave in 1-minute intervals, stirring between each round, for 4–5 minutes until pasta is tender and water mostly absorbed.
- Stir in shredded cheese, milk or cream, and butter if using.
- Microwave for 15–20 more seconds to melt the cheese, then stir again until creamy.
- Let sit 1 minute before enjoying — cheese thickens as it rests.
Notes
For extra creaminess, stir in a spoonful of cream cheese. Add-ins like jalapeños, bacon bits, or spinach can be mixed in after cooking for more flavor.
