MY STORY

About Sabrine – The Heart Behind NowCooked

Hi, I’m Sabrine Riley — and I’m so glad you’re here.

If someone had told me ten years ago that I’d one day be sharing cozy microwave mug meals with thousands of people across the world, I would have laughed. But looking back, maybe it all makes sense.

From Curious Kid to Cozy Cook

I grew up in a small town, in a house where the kitchen was always warm and something was always cooking. My grandmother used to call it “the heart of the home,” and I think that stuck with me more than I realized.

But unlike most people, my obsession wasn’t with fancy meals. It was with the microwave.

As a teenager, I was always trying to invent shortcuts. I wanted real food, fast. I remember once trying to make mac & cheese in a mug because I didn’t want to wash a whole pot. (It overflowed. It was a mess. But it tasted amazing.) That curiosity turned into a habit, then a collection, and eventually a passion.

Why Mug Meals?

After college, I moved into a tiny apartment with a microwave and a dream. Between my job as a preschool teacher and my chaotic schedule, the idea of gourmet dinners felt impossible. But I still wanted something warm, something that felt like home.

That’s when I really started creating and perfecting my own microwave mug meals. Meals that could be made in under 10 minutes. With real ingredients. And still make me smile.

I started sharing those recipes with friends, then on Pinterest, and then on a little blog that turned into NowCooked.

What NowCooked Means to Me

NowCooked isn’t just a website. It’s my kitchen table. It’s where I invite people in for a cozy moment, even when life feels rushed. Every recipe is tested, tasted, and made with the same intention: to bring warmth and joy, one mug at a time.

Whether you’re a student in a dorm, a mom like me juggling everything at once, or someone who just wants to eat something delicious without the dishes, there’s a place for you here.

A Few Fun Facts:

  • I can microwave an entire lasagna in under 12 minutes (yes, really!)
  • I have a weakness for late-night mug brownies with a pinch of sea salt
  • My son calls me “the mug magician”
